The Woodspur Lodge is not your average hotel. To us, it is much more like a big old cabin with tons of character and charm. This is what attracted us to the Woodspur. But we want to make it clear that it is very different than your average Holiday Inn. There are no TV’s or phones in the bedrooms and although some rooms have been updated some are definitely on the more rustic side. However, they have a fabulous common area with couches and a full wall of windows overlooking their large deck with a beautiful view of the mountains. They also have a bar, game room, and two hot tubs.
Since the lodge is older it does not have the same sort of sound proofing we all might be accustomed to. This means that on the wedding night things will be noisy, but our hope is that everyone will be up celebrating with us so that shouldn’t be too big of a problem. If you think noise will be a problem we can try to get you in rooms that are farther away from the dancing. Otherwise, if you prefer other accommodations, make sure to do it soon, as it is Jazz Fest in Winter Park on the weekend of the wedding, and places are filling up fast! If you need help with finding a place to stay please get in contact with us.
The other important thing to understand about the lodge is that while it does sleep around 110, the caveat is they only have 31 rooms. About a third of the rooms have one queen bed, but the rest either have two queens, two twins, a queen and a bunk, or a king and two bunks. As some of you have already learned, this means that in order for all the wedding guests to stay at the lodge, which is our wish since it means we will get more time to see each and every one of your lovely faces:), some are going to have to share rooms. As of right now, all the rooms with only one bed are booked. We most likely won’t have to pack all the beds, which mean that some of the remaining people/couples will still get to have their own room so please let us know if you are willing to share a room, or better if you have someone or couple in mind just book together. If you are planning the share a room, it is easier for the lodge staff if your whole group books on the same day. The price drops by $12.50/person/night if you have 3 or more people in a room.
The owner’s name is Jeannine – she advises guests to make sure to start drinking water and getting your electrolytes up before the trip since we’ll be above 8,000 ft in elevation. Stay hydrated!
